This morning, my dad accidentally found a bag of coins. 95% is quarter US Dollars. I pour it in table. First thing I did was count it. Then I distinguished something particularly different. Something more interesting rather than just counted it. One side of coin have different picture and quote among other. So I set aside the different coins and ended in 19 distinctive coins. 12 Different Coins

Complete coins circulation in United States handled by US Monetary department could be very complicated. At this rate, the point I would like to emphasize is how each state has its authority to print and engrave one side coin as long as the other side using national provision picture. That is Washington head picture including ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA LIBERTY IN GOD WE TRUST’ quote. The next interest thing was identify and searching the story behind it. In picture above, we all can presume that the coin picture will present the iconic figure, could be local interest like Oregon and Minnesota; public figure like District of Columbia; local iconic history like North Carolina where Wright brothers developed their first flying machine or the shape of the state itself like Texas and Idaho. The following words will represent the name of local iconic place like Oregon and Minnesota, state distinctive motto like Texas, New Mexico and Nevada, local iconic history like North Carolina, and local iconic vegetation like Connecticut. The state motto itself usually came from the history behind it. The year engraved below the state name is the year when the state got the admission to union. The year below the picture is when the coin produced.

The proud of the states are not only pictured by the coins they produced, but also by their license plate. I’m sorry I can’t present the original I pictured by myself due to the closing of multiply blog :(. I uploaded there several years ago and when I migrated to blogspot, I forgot migrated the media, which was in this case, the photos. You probably can view the unique plate in this site.

Texas

Arizona

California

Florida

Louisiana

All picture represent the uniqueness of each states. For example flamingo in Louisiana, The famous orange from Florida, the iconic dessert in Arizona The identity of state like Texas or even just a simple distinctive word font in California. Those above are several plate. One of my favorite bit is Texas, The latest plate pictured prairie dessert, a cowboy and a horse, starry night with space shuttle since Neil Armstrong first reported the moon landing to Johnson Space Center (JSC) NASA and the shape of state.

I always wonder, what about the plate in Indonesia using same method? Not just the black background color and white font. Pretty boring, isn’t it? What about The uniqueness of each province is explored in license plate picture? Like Monas drawing for DKI Jakarta plate, Borobudur for Yogyakarta, Lake Toba for North Sumatra and so on. It would be interesting, though.

KSA Paper Money

KSA Paper Money

Head of King of Saudi Arabia lead by single person, combines legislative, executive and judicial function. Like any other monarchical country, head of the country is controlled until he died. Can you distinguish the different from those 3 money above? Yes, the head picture defy who is the king when the paper money was printed. You can see the complete picture in here.

The bottom image is King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, rule the kingdom since 2005 till now. The middle image is King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the brother of King Abdullah. Role the kingdom in 1996 – 2005 because of his death. I’m not sure who is the man in the top picture. After check and match the picture in internet, I presume he is King Abdul Aziz or famously known as Ibn Saud. He is the father of two kings I stated above. KSA riyal nowadays still print his face and honor him in 20 and 200 riyal paper money.

In Other words…

Each country has the uniqueness of their picture of money, either paper or coin. Each picture represent the strong of country identity. For Indonesia itself using national heroes depicted. You probably asked me, why I don’t review just Indonesia money instead the other. My answer will solemnly state that as precious as Indonesia, I won’t review and write in simple history and essay. Must be more significant and comprehensive. I should gain and read more about national history and I feel I don’t have sufficient knowledge until now 😦 Well let’s see. I will give a shot later 😀
